Puppy & Person Treats
These 3-ingredient dog treats can easily be modified to make a tasty snack for humans, too! I love making them for our foster dogs to snack on while we’re hiking, and a few additions to half of the mixture amps them up to be a people-pleaser on the trail.
NOTE: The base recipe makes about 10 one-tablespoon treats. The ratios of the ingredients aren’t critical, so don’t stress about it if your banana is a little bigger or smaller than the weight specified.
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350F.
If you have pre-ground oat flour, the dough can be made in a bowl by mashing the banana with a fork and then mixing the remaining ingredients in with a spatula. If you’re starting from old fashioned or quick oats, add them to your food processor and process until a fine flour forms. Add banana in chunks and peanut butter and process until homogeneous dough forms around the blade, scraping down as needed.
If adding human-only ingredients, mix in with a spatula.
Form one-tablespoon balls of dough on a parchment- or silicone-lined baking sheet. They won’t spread much at all in the oven, so just leave about an inch of space between them for air circulation. Use a damp thumb in the center of each ball to depress them to about half an inch thickness.
Bake for 20 minutes. Allow to cool completely on the baking sheet before feeding to canine companions, or enjoy while warm if you have human DNA.
